This very busy intersection in Glen Waverley has been a site for automotive service & repairs for many years.

When once the area was farmland, this was a site that you could refuel & top-up up your radiator etc.

"We found an old wheel & tyre dating back to the early 1900's several feet underground when we excavated the basement in 2007!"

The site became VACC accredited in 1952, and was one of the first sites to become a "Licenced Motor Car Trader" as the number is 104.

The Dealership was a Toyota passenger car franchise only until The Lane Family purchased the site in 1986.

The commercial franchise was quickly added, and as a result the site grew steadily in size over the next ten years from the initial 350 car sales per year with 15 staff & two workshop bays in 1986.

The success of the Dealership mirrored the success of Toyota, and today we employ over 65 staff, & sell over 1,600 cars per year, and service over 18,000 customer cars per anum.

The Lane Family are synonymous with the automotive industry in Victoria, and have been retailers & wholesalers of cars since 1914.

The current owner, is the grandson of the original founder (Robert T Lane) of Lanes Motors, Robert T's son was also Robert M Lane, who also worked his entire career in the industry, and grew the business dramatically during his tenure.

Michael Lane (Roberts M Lane's son) has been in the automotive Industry since 1981, & worked for Mercedes-Benz distributors in several capacities before eventually starting at the dealership since 1992.

He went onto to become the Dealer Principal & operate the Dealership in 1995, and then finally acquired the dealership & it's landholdings' from his family in 2003.

Since Michael's acquisition, the Dealership has experienced dramatic capital expenditure to it's facilities; re-building its Sales Showroom, & more recently relocating & re-furbishing a new Service & Parts facility, placing the Dealership on the leading edge with it comes customer centric facilities.

Whilst the buidings might be new, the DNA, or culture & the simple philosophy of running this Dealership hasn't really changed over the generations, the scene was set almost 100 years ago, and is still alive today........
